I'm Bobby Lawson, a competitive powerlifter from State College, PA, and powerlifting has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started lifting at 10 years old with my older brother, and by 19 I had moved into equipped lifting. That's when I really began to grow as a lifter through years of training, competing, and learning from veteran mentors.
Over the years, I've trained at Big Iron Gym, Omaha Barbell, 814 Barbell, and Nittany Barbell. Each gym has played a part in shaping who I am as both a lifter and a coach. I've broken 11 world records in my career, including 3 in the squat, 1 in the bench press, 3 in the deadlift, and 2 in the total.
My best meet to date came at the 2025 Arnold Classic XPC, where I totaled 2,405 pounds at 25 years old and 285 pounds bodyweight. I'm currently preparing for APO Nationals and chasing the next chapter in my own lifting journey.
BL Strength was started to pass on the lessons, knowledge, and experience I've gained, and to help lifters at any stage experience the sport the way I have.
